Lets talk about gum disease! You know that feeling of brushing or flossing your teeth and it starts to bleed or bother you? Well, this must be due to the fact that you may have gingivitis or periodontitis.
Gingivitis is when there is inflammation in the gums. This occurs when there is a lot of bacteria or plaque accumulated on your teeth which causes your gums to become inflamed. This is undestructive and can be treated, but if untreated then it will get worse and become periodontitis.
Periodontitis is more serious and can even lead to loss of teeth. This gum infection can even get to destroy your jawbone and gums completely. It is preventable and only occurs with poor dental health and hygiene. Because of this disease, one can lose their teeth which will lead to a more expensive dentist visit.
Therefore, one should pay attention to the pain the first time to be able to catch the inflammation first before it becomes something worse. A part of also keeping up with good dental hygiene is making sure you brush and floss twice a day! #stayaware #dentalhealth
