Root Canals and The Truth About Them

Root canals are a procedure that many people are afraid of because they think that it will hurt more, but here's the truth:

Root canals, just like many procedures, are done with local anesthetics which means you will not be feeling anything. The process does not kill your tooth, but rather cleans the infection that was inside of it and puts something else in place of your nerve. Then, after the root canal is done, you will need something called a crown to cover it up.

A crown is like a "hat" for your tooth. This will be the same color of your tooth and will be cemented onto your tooth so that it looks like all the other ones. This is done in place of an extraction in order to save what's left of your tooth.

If one gets an extraction instead of a root canal, then they can no longer get a crown, but will need an implant, denture or bridge to replace the missing tooth. This will of course be more pricier than the root canal and crown treatment together.

Therefore, one should get the root canal if needed and stay informed about the procedure. Let me know what you may think of this and if you have ever gotten one! #stayaware #dentalhealth
